ROMATSA employees set September 1 as day strike. Negotiations with the Ministry of Transport failed

The unionists from ROMATSA will trigger a general strike on September 1, at 11 AM, if the authorities will not resolve the issues faced by employees, Gabriel Tudorache, one of the trade union leaders with the Romanian Administration of Air Traffic Services (ROMATSA), said on Monday.

The union leaders of ROMATSA had a meeting with the Minister of Transport Iulian Matache for discussions, which ended without result. “There is no other choice but to seek support from civil society, because we fight with a sickly system,” Tudorache said. According to him, the notification on declaring a general strike in all ROMATSA units was sent to the appropriate bodies.

However, according to Minister Matache, out of the 14 claims of the unions, 12 were solved during the negotiations and for the other two remaining claims, it was decided to continue the discussions to sign the collective labor agreement.

The employees are unhappy that the document agreed upon by the trade union and the employers was not complied with.
